PaperMiles is a paper-style daily log grid for drivers who are exempt from the ELD rule and still keep records of duty status on paper. You draw the 24-hour grid with your finger, the line totals add up as you draw, and you can hand an inspector today plus the previous seven days as a PDF or on screen.
PaperMiles is not an ELD and is not registered with or approved by FMCSA. It does not decide whether you are exempt, does not judge hours-of-service compliance, and never shows "time you have left to drive". Whether an exemption applies to you is a question for your carrier and for FMCSA guidance.
Where is my data? Only on your phone. There is no account and no server, and the app makes no network requests at all — see the privacy policy.
Does it track my location? No. PaperMiles never asks for location permission. The place you write next to a change of duty status is text you type yourself.
How do I show an inspector my logs? Open the Inspection tab. You get today plus the previous seven days, either on screen or as a PDF you can print or hand over. How an inspector wants to see them differs from stop to stop, so carrying a printed copy is the safe choice.
What is the "last 30 days" count? It is a plain count of the days you drew Driving or On Duty on, inside the rolling 30-day window. It is information only — PaperMiles does not warn you, color it red, or tell you what it means for your exemption.
Can I get my records out? Yes. Settings has Back up, which writes every sheet to a JSON file you keep. If you delete the app, that file is still yours.
How do I erase everything? Settings, then Delete all data. Sheets, signatures and cached PDFs all go.
I lost a sheet / the grid will not draw. Email us with your device model and iOS version and what you were doing. Because nothing leaves your phone, we cannot look up your account — your description is all we have to go on.
